Covering the war in Gaza
and its consequences for peace
between Israeli and Palestinians

What is it

Justice&Peace Journal is a one issue paper journal produced in Switzerland dealing with the war in Gaza and the current stakes in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It brings together a selection of articles published in the world press to give room for empathy and recognition of the suffering in a time of war. This free paper, published in French, English, Italian and German, has no agenda other than this single issue. The final PDF version will be made available as open-source, enabling interested parties to print freely locally.

Why

The media blockade imposed by the current Israeli government has made coverage of the genocide in Gaza virtually impossible for western and local press. Although some western media outlets do report mostly political aspects of the conflict, without following the social media accounts of those living through it on the ground, it remains a war behind closed doors. This makes it difficult for a wider public to comprehend the fast-moving developments in Gaza and Palestine, to gauge the suffering of Palestinians, or Israelis demonstrating to demand the return of the hostages, and, beyond all, to glimpse a path toward peace.

Our postulat

We believe that the conflict that has erupted in recent months is part of a history that needs to be better recalled, just as a projection into the future for a lasting peace needs to be better explored in the media. We believe that journalism should be on the side of peace and respect for international and human rights. That's why we want to promote journalistic practices that respect these value in a printed edition, convinced that peace can no longer wait, that justice is the only way to go, and that it must be written in a fair and shared narrative.
